AMP-FirstEnergy Gas Peaking Facility Not Moving Forward

In late 2012, FirstEnergy and American Municipal Power (AMP) announced they had entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) to site, build and operate a natural gas peaking facility located on the grounds of FirstEnergy’s existing Eastlake Plant in Eastlake, Ohio. It now appears unlikely the project will proceed as a result of uncertainty regarding a number of issues, several of which could affect AMP’s financing for the project.

AMP President/CEO Installed as National Hydropower Assn. President

American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) President/CEO Marc Gerken is the new President of the National Hydropower Association (NHA) Board of Directors. Gerken was installed as President during the association’s annual conference held April 22-24 in Washington, D.C., and will lead the association’s efforts during the coming year.

AMP Honors Organization’s Significant Contributors with Wall of Fame Inductions

American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) added five individuals to the AMP Wall of Fame last week. The Wall of Fame was established in 2011 to honor those individuals who through their dedication have made significant contributions to AMP, the Ohio Municipal Electric Association (OMEA) and public power.
