Providing Power for Municipal Electric Utilities in Many States

PSEC is a two-unit, supercritical, coal-fired power plant and adjacent mine that is jointly owned by nine public power agencies that serve members across eight states. American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) holds the largest equity ownership in the facility at 23.26 percent, equating to 368 MW. A total of 68 AMP Member communities from Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia participate in the project. In addition, AMP Members Paducah and Princeton participate in PSEC through the Kentucky Municipal Power Agency. The plant reached full commercial operation in 2012.
