AMP Transmission (AMPT) is proposing the Pioneer Phase I Reinforcement Project to improve reliability for the customers in the Village of Pioneer and surrounding areas.
Project Details
The Pioneer Phase I Reinforcement Project involves the construction of a new 69/12-kilovolt (kV) Kexon Substation located on the north end of the Village and the addition of a new 69-kV transmission line (approximately 2 miles) between the Kexon Substation and the existing AMPT 69-kV transmission line located along U.S. Highway 20.
Proposed Route Announcement
On July 20, 2022, AMPT proposed a route that best meets the Pioneer Phase I Reinforcement Project’s purpose, need, and schedule. The route announcement letter is linked at the bottom of this page.
Survey Permissions and Field Surveys
Representatives from AMPT’s contactor, Emerald Energy & Exploration Land Company, will be contacting landowners to request survey permission. After permission is granted field teams will conduct property surveys for natural and cultural resources, parcel boundaries, and/or to collect geotechnical data.
Project Siting and Routing
AMPT evaluated alternative study segments in the area to meet the immediate project need. Study segments were combined to determine a proposed transmission line route. These segments were evaluated based on many factors including, but not limited to: public input, field condition data, environmental and regulatory constraints, engineering design requirements, constructability, and overall feasibility. AMPT will not build all study segments. Rather, these segments were used to identify a proposed route based on the siting evaluation criteria.
Stakeholder Engagement
AMPT invited the community to learn more about the Project and share input in the ways listed below:
An in-person Open House was held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, at the Pioneer Community Center located at 100 North Elm Street in Pioneer. The community was able to view detailed maps and talk with team members about the proposed study segments and Project.
The community was also invited to provide their contact information and public comments regarding the proposed study segments via email to AMPT at [email protected]. The community can still reach AMPT via this address to provide additional comments or questions regarding the Project.
