The RH Gorsuch Station was located on 51 acres of land in Washington County, Ohio, and consisted of 4 boilers and four 53 MW turbine generators. An additional non-adjacent 88 acres were purchased as solid waste landfill space for the disposal of flyash from the generating facility.

The Gorsuch Station site was four miles southwest of Marietta and within seven miles of Interstate 77.

Gorsuch not only produced power for AMP Member participants, but also produced high pressure steam for heating and process requirements for nearby industries.

In 1950, Union Carbide developed the industrial complex and later sold the electric arc furnaces and power generation facilities to Elkem Metals.

In 1987, AMP-Ohio purchased a seventy percent interest in the power generation station from Elkem Metals and later purchased the remaining thirty percent.

The Gorsuch Station power generation operation was terminated in November of 2010.
