COLUMBUS: American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) has announced the expansion of its legal team with the addition of a new Assistant Deputy General Counsel. Michael Kyser joined the AMP full-time staff on June 29th, working with long-time AMP Senior Vice-President and General Counsel John Bentine along with Deputy General Counsels, Rachel Gerrick and Lisa McAlister.
Prior to his new position, Mike was with the City of Toledo, Ohio Law Department, where he handled contract negotiations, labor and employment, litigation and regulatory compliance, city policies and procedures, arbitration and mediation for the city. During law school, Michael interned at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Liebert Corporation and the Carlile, Patchen & Murphy law firm.
Mike holds a bachelor of arts degree from The Ohio State University and a Juris Doctorate, Publicly Held Companies Concentration Certificate, from Capital University Law School. In his new capacity he will support Deputy General Counsels Rachel Gerrick and Lisa McAlister in representing AMP and advising its members on a wide variety of legal matters including transactions, construction contracts, records policies, general business and utility matters along with helping facilitate internal and external strategies including regulatory initiatives at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, PJM Interconnection and MidContinent ISO.
