COLUMBUS, OH: American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) is pleased to announce that Adam Ward has been promoted to vice president of environmental affairs, sustainability and energy policy.
Ward came to AMP in February 2016 as assistant vice president of environmental affairs and policy, having previously served as assistant chief of the Air Pollution Control Division with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). His 20-year career with the EPA spanned various positions and his expertise includes federal and state regulations, with an emphasis on air pollution control and energy; analysis of regulations targeting areas of concern and potential impacts; and policy development and implementation.
At AMP, Ward directs the functions of the organization’s environmental affairs and sustainability groups, including compliance activities, regulatory review, policy development and regulatory filings. He also manages AMP sustainability programs and provides regular updates to the AMP Board of Trustees and membership.
“Adam has become an integral part of AMP over the past year,” said Jolene Thompson, AMP executive vice president of member services and external affairs. “His unique perspective and leadership have allowed him to effectively tackle the challenges of an ever-changing industry.”
Ward holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental health from Bowling Green State University; a master’s degree in environmental, safety and emergency management from the University of Findlay; and is a Certified Public Manager through the Ohio State University John Glenn School of Public Affairs.
