COLUMBUS, OH: The American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP), Board of Trustees elected Dave Carroll, CEO of Paducah Power System, to the position of Board Chair at its Jan. 17 meeting. He is the first Board Chair representing an AMP Member community outside of the state of Ohio.
Carroll, who has served on the AMP Board since 2017, had previously served as Board Secretary since 2020. He also serves on several AMP Board committees and currently chairs the Power Supply and Generation Board Committee and serves as vice chair of the Hydro Power Projects Committee.
“Dave is a thoughtful, well-respected member of the Board, and AMP is fortunate to have someone of his caliber serving as Chair,” said Jolene Thompson, AMP President/CEO. “He is a strong leader for AMP and a powerful advocate for public power.”
Carroll was named to his current position at Paducah Power System in 2021 after serving as General Manager for four years. He has served with Paducah Power System for 24 years, spending most of that time as Director of Finance and Administration. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Kentucky. Carroll has spent most of his career in the utility industry beginning in 1991 at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, which enriched uranium fuel for nuclear power plants. He held positions including Controller for Lockheed Martin Energy Systems and Chief Financial Officer of Bechtel Jacobs Company at the Paducah plant site.
Carroll also serves as General Manager of the Kentucky Municipal Power Agency, President of the Kentucky Municipal Utility Association and as a member of the Board of Directors of Prairie State Generating Company. In 2021, he was elected to represent Region 7 on the American Public Power Association Board of Directors.
